What is plantar fasciitis?

  • It is the inflammation of the thick fibrous band that run between the bottom of your heel bone and your toes, forming the arches on the bottom of your feet.

  • It is one of the most common causes of heel pain.



What are the symptoms of plantar fasciitis? 

  • Pain is usually located around the heel and arch of the foot.

  • It is frequently increased in the morning after you wake up and after resting for a  while.

What are the causes of plantar fasciitis?

  • Repeated stress caused to the plantar fascia by activities like running, jumping, wearing inadequately supportive footwear, etc can cause it.

How will physiotherapy help plantar fasciitis?

  • Stretching the fascia and surrounding muscles.

  • Strengthening the intrinsic muscles of the foot, which support the arch. 

  • Relieving spasm and pain in the surrounding muscles. 

  • Improving gait pattern/running technique and suggesting footwear modifications to support the foot.
